July 18, 2011 Death Valley National Park, CA

Monday - Death Valley. 200 feet below sea level and the hot winds
hurt your eyeballs and epidermis. The valley is surrounded by colorful
rock and volcanic rock mountains. We didn't do much here, who could
stand the heat? A mild 110 today. But you feel like you are stepping
into a sauna once you step outside. The blacktop burns your feet thru
your flip flops if you stand still too long.

In the maivalley, they have a nice vacation complex with golf,
tennis, etc but definitely off season for this.

Katie and Abby ran thru to earn a junior ranger badge, maybe 18
total since our Gulliver's Travels beginning 2009. We are working our way thru the number of U.S. National Parks.
